What Are Your Thoughts On Porn?

I was just over reading and commenting on a blog that steadfastly refuses to blogroll me, and the blog owner was discussing porn. She says she is against it. She quotes some feminist claims that it literally alters men's brains physically and permanently and damages the men. Personally I think that this particular claim, like all feminist 'research', is total agenda-driven bullshit. But that's my opinion and I'm here to ask yours. She has other reasons for hating porn beyond just the feminist propaganda. It destroyed her marriage. This I am somewhat more familiar with, marriage being something the feminists are also against, because I recall a friend whose husband was sent to war, came back addicted to drugs and porn, and who turned gay. It was a shock to her. She was and still is extremely beautiful. But he left her as a heterosexual occasional drug user and returned from war a homosexual drug-and-gay-porn addicted wreck. Needless to say, this ended her marriage and had a profound effect on her life. I don't blame the porn, though. I think the porn was a symptom of a much bigger problem that he was having. And she herself never blamed his interest in porn for wrecking their marriage. It was the part where he turned gay that broke her heart. And his new and violent temper coupled with extreme addiction that drove her from him forever.

So what are your thoughts about porn?

Do you think it's a tool helpful to couples for spicing up their sex lives?
Do you think it exploits women, but not men? Exploits both? Exploits neither since they all act in these films of their free will?

Do you think women's dirty books, like Shades of Grey, is porn for women?
Do you think Twilight, which encourages women to desire sex with teenaged boys, is harmful women's porn?
Do you think women's porn in general is just as bad as men's porn if men's porn is bad?

Do you think porn has improved over the years, or is it still lousy scripts and poor excuses for sex scenes?
Do you think acting in porn harms the actors and actresses in some way?
Do you think its odd that so many female porn stars do double-duty as strippers, actually going on tours across the nation to strip clubs where they dance nude onstage?

Do you think a married man is hurting his marriage by possessing porn? Why or why not?
Do you think it odd that a man might have some porn and have never watched it or even opened the package?

Do you believe the feminists claims that watching porn literally alters the makeup of men's minds and damages them forever? If the brain is altered, why would it not be possible to alter it back?
Do you think that regular TV and movies' inclusion of frequent ball-busting into their programming is an attempt to include something sexual and pornographic which censors oddly fail to object to?
If you think porn is harmful, do you think all porn is equally harmful or is certain porn, like S&M films and ball-busting and other fetish-type films, more harmful?

If you don't think porn in general is harmful, do you think some porn might be so over-the-line as to be something more than just porn, something bad and flat out evil?
Do you think mere nudity should qualify as porn, or does there have to be actual sex involved? What if all the sex is simply simulated sex? Is it still porn? Is it harmful?

Which do you think might be more likely to be harmful, regularly watching movies classified as porn, or watching movies that feature no nudity at all, but involve lots of extreme physical violence and scenes of men being beaten to death, with the violence glorified and portrayed as good and heroic?

What about 2 girls and a cup? What the hell is up with that?!

I used to work with a man who watched several videos featuring Brazilian girls having sex with German shepherds somehow. I never saw those videos, but just hearing him describe it was disturbing to me. How drunk do you think he was when he started watching that? What kind of person do you think you'd have to be just to come up with the idea to make such a film, let alone participate in it? What kind of person buys that? Do you think this qualifies as porn, humans having sex with animals, or is it something entirely different?

A man in Memphis was recently charged with child pornography, a serious sex crime, because he posted a photo of a man receiving a blowjob from a toddler. The Memphis man posted it on Facebook and asked people to report if they could identify the man in the photo because the man needed to be arrested for abusing the child. The man in the photo was not identified or arrested, but the man who posted the photo and asked for help in tracking the man down was. Our government has so criminalized sex that simply asking people to identify a man participating in an act of child pornography results in arrest and prosecution, with the result being a life destroyed. Prior to this, the government has been arresting and charging school-aged boys after their female classmates took naked photos of themselves and "sexted" it to the boys cell phones. The boys did not ask for the photos and did not participate in their production, yet no girls have ever been charged for this while thousands of boys have. Do you think the US government has gone so far beyond what is reasonable in criminalizing and prosecuting sex that it has turned into a witch hunt?

What do you think?
